Terms / Rules
These terms are not fully encompassing and do not necessarily make up all of the applicable rules/policies for moderation and governance of the Reaired platform. They are, however, a minimum standard that is expected to be upheld by users.
Additionally, there are some important notes that should be clearly understood by all users of the platform.
- Reaired is part of the “Fediverse” meaning you can interact with users on other instances, as well as those on Reaired
- Your account is only valid on Reaired itself, not when visiting other instances directly
- Other instances will contain their own content, moderated by their own admins, but can be shown on Reaired
- Content when posted will be transferred to other instances to enable their users to see and interact with it
- Federation with other instances may change at any time
- Content from other instances can be reported to Reaired admins. We have some ability to restrict it’s visibility or take further action
- The block button and keyword muting are useful tools
Minimum Rules
- Do not send messages considered “spam” or containing malicious content
- Do not harass or abuse other users
- Consider your tone in writing
- Remember that offense is determined by the receiver, no matter your intention
- Do not share illegal content
- Do not impersonate another user or company
- Report any inappropriate content and do not otherwise interact
- Do not advertise excessively
- Posting that you are available for work is OK
- Occasional sponsored posts are OK
- As a general rule; if over 50% of your posts are advertising, it’s too much
- Brands are considered separately, as self-promotion/news of the brand
- Generally Be Nice
- Do not post Offensive Content
Federation Notes
Reaired generally maintains an open federation policy. By default, we will federate with any other ActivityPub-compliant service. In the event of an abusive instance - either technically or from Offensive Content - we may choose not to federate with certain services.
In the event of defederation with an instance we will:
- Post a message via the Reaired account
- Post an announcement if this impacts a significant number of users
- Update our public Blocked Instances list
Defederation will always be considered a “last resort” to protect our users from particularly abusive instances.
Major Reminder
Once content has been posted on the platform, it is very difficult to ensure it has been removed entirely. Posts are transmitted to other instances moments after being posted, and can be retained by those other instances however they wish.
Deleting content on Reaired will remove it from Reaired itself and will request other instances to remove it, however there is no guarantee that an outside instance will honour this.
Similarly, if content is removed after a search engine or archive service has retained a copy, it may be impossible to remove those copies.
Always assume anything you post anywhere on the internet may be around forever
